The Union ministry of science and technology has allotted Rs 3.5 crore to Jai Prakash University for infrastructure development.
Sources in the institute said the allocation was the highest among state universities this year. The money would be utilised in purchasing equipment to develop laboratories.
The funds would be distributed among the physics, chemistry, botany and zoology departments of Jai Prakash University and the science faculty of Rajendra College, Jagdam College and Hafizpur College. The postgraduate departments and the colleges would get Rs 50 lakh each.
“The amount allotted to the university is more than the allocation to Patna University and is the highest in the state,” Jai Prakash University vice-chancellor Ram Vinod Sinha said.
He added that from the Rs 3.5 crore, Rs 50 lakh each would be given to the three colleges and the four postgraduate departments.
