Patna: The Bihar School Examination Board's (BSEB) centralised admission for undergraduate courses in 10 universities under the online facilitation system for students (OFSS) has turned into a tedious task for students and colleges.
The BSEB, looking into the problems of students and teachers, have stopped the admission process and announced new admission dates for students.
Earlier, the last date for admission was July 24, but now it will resume from July 30 to August 5.
The board has directed different universities carrying out admission under the OFSS. Munger University vice-chancellor Ranjit Kumar Verma said: "The university has received a letter from BSEB about the new schedule for admission, July 30 to August 5." Admission to undergraduate courses under OFSS started on July 16 and were to continue till July 24.
On July 15, Governor Satya Pal Malik launched the OFSS by releasing the merit for admission in undergraduate courses at 440 colleges under 10 universities.
Ten state universities apart from Patna University were to carry out admission to undergraduate courses through online facilitation system for students. Of 4.11 lakh students who had applied under OFSS, around 3.44 lakh candidates were to take admission from July 16 to 24.
Suraj Kumar, a student who had applied for admission at BD College under Patliputra University, said: "The OFSS was very confusing. Filling up the category list column was most confusing."
He claimed that he hailed from Extremely Backward Classes but his category was marked as Backward Castes under the community column.
Suraj also claimed that there was confusion in the list of colleges and courses offered as listed on the OFSS website.
A teacher claimed that due to confusion in the website, many students failed to register online owing to poor Internet connectivity in rural areas.
The universities which are going to admit students under OFSS are LN Mithila University (Darbhanga), Purnea University (Purnea), BN Mandal University (Madhepura), Veer Kuer Singh University (Ara), Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University (Muzaffarpur), Magadh University (Bodhgaya), JP University (Chhapra), Munger University (Munger), Patliputra University (Patna) and Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University (Bhagalpur).
