Patna, Oct. 17: Police arrested two liquor suppliers from Patna's Gardanibagh and Agamkuan areas on Monday, claiming that the duo were suspected to manufacture spurious alcohol.
The persons arrested were identified as Satyendra Kumar and Ranjit Kumar.
Police sources associated with making the arrests said both men used to operate from their homes and had installed machines to manufacture liquor.
"Satyendra Kumar is a resident of Paharpur area in the Gardanibagh police station area," said an office at the police station. "He used to operate from his residence. The police have seized 17 sealed bottles of liquor, large quantity of wrappers of different liquor companies and empty bottles."
In a similar raid, Ranjit Kumar was arrested from the Agamkuan police station area. The police claimed their modus operandi was the same, and it is suspected that both manufactured spurious liquor.
The police claimed both men used to supply liquor to select customers who were contacted through WhatsApp.
The police have issued a WhatsApp number (9939919191) for people to provide information to police about people involved in illegal liquor trade.
Ever since prohibition was imposed in Bihar, the police have been carrying out raids in different places. In the early hours of Saturday, police seized two consignments of contraband alcohol coming in trucks from Haryana to be distributed around the state. Muzaffarpur police seized 286 cartons of liquor and Nalanda police 354 cartons.
