Nawanagar (Buxar), Feb. 7: Chief minister Nitish Kumar might be in troubled waters of late, but still he enjoys the support of industry.

During the inauguration of the Rs 400-crore Mega Food Park in Buxar district on Friday, Anil Kumar Sharma, the CMD of Noida-based Amrapali Group, said he intended to open a food processing unit in each district of the state. Union minister of state for agriculture and food processing Tariq Anwar inaugurated it.

“Our mega food park in Buxar, inaugurated today, will be the biggest one. We will come up with at least one food-processing unit in all districts. Chief minister Nitish Kumar has dreams of placing at least one Bihari dish on the platter of every Indian. We intend to make this dream come true,” Sharma, born and brought up in Pandarak near Patna, said.

The Amrapali Mum’s Mega Food Park Private Limited in Buxar is spread across 32.5 acres and will have 11 food processing units. Two already run there, one manufacturing cornflakes and another processing maize under the brand name of Mum’s Food.

The other units will deal in fruit juices, vegetable processing, pulp, rice and milk processing, poultry, tomato sauce, jams, jelly etc. The park has come up at 182 crore, the total investment being Rs 400 crore. It will generate 150-200 jobs.

Anwar said: “All efforts have been made to ensure the park gets required technology. Agro products will help the state develop and I have assured the CM all help. My roots are here, so I will definitely ensure that the state prospers..”

State industries minister Renu Kumari said: “The state has been trying and has succeeded in bringing job-based industries to the state. A diamond cutting and polishing unit had come up last year.”
