Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Monday reviewed whether the districts are ready with flood-protection measures or not.

The chief minister conducted a video-conference and instructed the district magistrates to be prepared to face floods, which generally hit north Bihar districts in August-September.

While holding a meeting at the old secretariat with water resources minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary, disaster management minister Renu Kumari and other officials, Nitish instructed the district magistrates to inform the government if they need any help.

Nitish said: “During the floods, there has to be a control room in every district and its number must be advertised. The media should also be briefed regularly on the condition of the floods. All the complaints should be immediately addressed.”

The chief minister said that 28 of the 38 districts are flood-prone. He also directed the disaster management department to arrange generators, petromax lamps, tents and sacks in advance in all flood-prone areas.
