JN Trivedi, social activist and the chief guest of the Gurjeet Kaur Senior State Squash Championship, plays a shot at Bankipore Club on Monday. Trivedi, while inaugurating the squash championship organised by All-Bihar State Squash Racquet Association, spoke about the benefits of playing the game. Syed Shamael Ahmed, state adviser, All-Bihar State Squash Racquet Association, said: “The government has not opened courts for squash players. It is really very sad. I would request the government to open courts for squash in different districts. In Patna, too, there is no other court exclusively for squash players except at Bankipore Club.” Manjit Singh Sarla, a member of the Bankipore Club, asked players, who are taking part in the championship, to honour the sportsman spirit. “Such events help to polish the skills of the players,” he added. The tournament will end on August 14. Players from all over the state are taking part in it. Text by Shuchismita Chakraborty, picture by Ashok Sinha |
