Patna: A seven-day basic film orientation workshop for children started at Kilkari Bihar Bal Bhavan on Thursday.
Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, representative Rajendra Narayan Pathak and Kilkari Bihar Bal Bhavan director Jyoti Parihar inaugurated the workshop.
Ritesh Taksande from FTII-Pune acquainted the children on the various aspects of films on the first day of the workshop. He taught students through a PowerPoint presentation. The roles of camera, lens, shot and tripod, were explained in the session. Around 30 students participated in the workshop.
Parihar said no free film orientation workshop had been organised in Patna in the past for children and thus they could learn a lot of things related to films at the workshop.
"The aim of the seven-day workshop is to make students learn about the grammar of cinema. Children would be able to know the contribution of director, producer, writer, composer, lyricist, cameraman and other such important persons in cinema at the workshop," said Taksande.
Abhishek Kumar, 12, one of the students, asked Taksande about script writing and how he could pursue a career in it. Taksande told him he could enrol for a script-writing course at FTII-Pune.
Students asked questions on film-editing, direction and other topics. "I asked sir how to do a fight sequence and from where do they hire people for such sequences. Whenever I see such scenes in movies, I always had the question in my mind," said Anjali, another student.
Another student Ravi Prakash asked Taksande about science fictions.
"Children asked interesting questions at the workshop. It proves they ponder over films. Hope this workshop would be helpful for those who want to make a career in films," said programme officer of Kilkari Bihar Bal Bhavan Anita Thakur.
