Patna, Feb. 20: The three-day Urs has spurred the traffic policemen to be on their toes to ensure smooth traffic flow.

Urs witnesses huge crowds, especially after dark, with a lot of people coming to see the fair.

Bailey Road and a part of Beer Chand Patel Path are set to witness a heavy traffic rush owing to the fest.

“There are a lot of cultural activities happening during the evening and lots of people come to see them. Traffic along Bailey Road will be heavy and there will be several police teams along the roads to regulate the traffic,” a traffic police officer said.

A lane towards Bailey Road from the Income Tax roundabout will be opened for traffic.

“Motorists should take caution as there will be a lot of people on the road till late night. Policemen will be there to prevent any untoward incident,” the officer said.

The officers of the local police stations, in addition to the traffic police, have been asked to be on strict vigil.

Members of the Urs organising committee said information in this connection has been sent to senior superintendent of police and the district magistrate offices and authorities have promised to cooperate.

“The entire Bailey Road, Income Tax roundabout and stretches of Beer Chand Patel Path will be clogged during the evenings for three days. Apart from police, our volunteers will also be there to maintain law and order. People coming to Urs should be careful and practise self-restraint. Everything has been planned out and we do not think there will be any hassle,” said Mohammed Farookh, a committee member.

The police will also patrol the fair area and will arrest troublemongers.
