Two persons — Satish Singh and Papu Yadav— were arrested on Monday for allegedly manufacturing and selling spurious organic fertilisers in the district, about 175km northeast of Patna.

Biroul sub-divisional police officer Dilnawaz Ahmad said: “Singh, who used to produce spurious vermicompost, has a manufacturing licence but not for selling. Papu Yadav was also involved. We recovered 151 bags of fertilisers from Singh’s shop at Nimaithi. After verification, both were sent to jail.” Superintendent of police Upendra Kumar Sharma said a racket of spurious vermicompost production is active in the district.
