Patna: A 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her father for the past six months, police said on Friday.

The father has been arrested.

The rape survivor, along with her mother, turned up at the Laheri police station on Friday and lodged an FIR alleging she was being sexually assaulted by her father in inebriated condition for the past six months.

The accused, the survivor claimed, also attempted to rape her on Thursday when she was alone in the house.

Her mother, who worked as a domestic help, was not present in the house when the incident occurred on Thursday.

The Laheri police recorded the victim's statement and forwarded it to the woman police station for further investigation.

The offender, a rickshaw puller at Asansol in Bengal, had come to his native village a few months ago.

"I couldn't muster courage to lodge a complaint against the offender as he had threatened me with dire consequences. On Thursday, I decided to fight for justice and objected his move to rape me again in the house," she told the police at Laheri.

Nalanda superintendent of police Sudhir Kumar Porika said the cops arrested the accused on the basis of the victim's statement.

"The girl has been sent for medical examination. Her statement will also be recorded in the court later," he told The Telegraph over phone.

Nalanda deputy superintendent of police (headquarters) Mohammad Imran Parvez said the victim's neighbours rushed to her house after hearing her screams on Thursday evening.

The girl narrated her tale of woes when her mother returned home from work.

In another incident, a young girl was gang raped by four youths at a village falling under the jurisdiction of Koransarai police station in Buxar on Thursday night.

The incident occurred when the victim had gone to attend the call of nature.

Four youths overpowered her and raped her in a field. She was found lying unconscious.

Police said the survivor had gone to her relative's house from Rohtas to attend a marriage ceremony on Friday. She has been admitted to Buxar sadar hospital.

Station house officer of Buxar woman police station Kanchan Kumari said two of the offenders - Pawan Kumar and Rajesh Kumar - have been arrested from the village and produced in the local court, which remanded them to 14-day judicial custody.

"Efforts are on to nab the two remaining accused, who were absconding after the incident," the SHO said.

The residents were shocked over the incident.
