The new undergraduate batch of Birla Institute of Technology, Patna, will soon join the institute’s bachelor of business administration, bachelor of business economy and bachelor of computer applications courses.
The tech cradle announced the admission results of the three-year courses last week. With 40 seats in each of the disciplines, the classes — designed on a par with the top management institutions in the country — would start from July 15. Admission results of integrated MSc courses in mathematics and computing and physics were also announced. The classes would start from August 1.
Practical approach
Birla Institute of Technology, Patna, organised a workshop on Sunday to create awareness among the participants about opportunities in the electronic system design and manufacturing sector. Computer Society of India sponsored the event with the department of electronics and information technology under the Union communications and information technology ministry.
Sixty-five participants, including students and teachers of electronics & communication engineering and computer science departments, attended the workshop where new opportunities were explored. The participants also paid a field visit to the Patliputra Telephone Exchange, as a part of the workshop, and learned the practical aspects of GSM mobile services.
The students’ chapter of the Computer Society of India was later launched at BIT-Patna.
Nose for news
The fourth anniversary of Advantage Media Academy was celebrated last Thursday.
Institute director Khurshid Ahmad told the students: “It is the duty of mediapersons to bring forth facts, as the media has a great role in shaping people’s perception.”
Academic director Rohit Singh shared his success mantra — hunger for news and a nose for news — with the students and advised them to participate in extra-curricular activities.
Fresh talents
The ability to learn from one’s mistakes makes for a good human being, advised Patna Women’s College principal Doris D’ Souza’s to the new BEd batch on Saturday. The institute had organised a Freshers’ Day in which the students gave extempore speeches and performed.
Rozila Tabassum came first in the Hindi extempore, while Shreya Bhasin won the English round. Arshi Anjum won the Hindi solo singing competition. Head of department, BEd, Upasana Singh, said the event was organised for the new batch to bring out latent talents.
Skills pay off
Management and IT students of Cimage grabbed placements with leading companies like Axis Capital, Hero MotoCorp and Godrej recently. Institute director Neeraj Agrawal said: “Our MBA students, as well as BBA, BCA, BSc (IT) students, have landed jobs with good packages.”
One student, Sushil Pandey, has been offered a job with Punjab National Bank at an annual package of Rs 4 lakh, while Rajeev Ranjan, another student, has been offered a job with an FM channel at Rs 2.5 lakh package. Agrawal added that the institute conducts workshops on pre-placement and interview handling skill to help the students get good job offers.
