Patna, Jan. 3: One of the convicts who escaped from Buxar Central Jail in the early hours of Saturday was arrested in Saran on Tuesday.

Deodhari Rai, sentenced to life term in a rape case, was arrested from Mathia Mor under the jurisdiction of Muffasil police station early in the morning after the police laid a trap based on information that he was spotted in Saran.

Chhapra Town police station house officer Raghav Dayal - who was part of the team that arrested the convict - said Deodhari (29), a resident of Dariyapur village in Saran district, tried to slit the veins of his hands with the edge of an iron bar in lock-up.

A two-member probe team also submitted its report on the jailbreak to the prison directorate. An official in the home department said the report has hinted at security lapses for the escape of the convicts.
