Patna, March 10: A youth was arrested today for allegedly writing intermediate exam on behalf of the son of JD (U) legislator from Simri Bakhtiarpur in Madhepura district.

The accused, Shashi Kumar, was writing the geology paper for Ativ Anand, the son of MLA Arun Kumar, at RPN Intermediate College. Sub-divisional officer (SDO) Gopal Meena caught him red-handed.

Anand is a student of CM Science College in Madhepura. The MLA is its owner.

Sources said Meena became suspicious after reaching the examination centre on a surprise check with a team. After some time Shashi was challenged.

The sources said the youth was arrested after the inspection team recovered Anand’s admit card from him.

In the card, Ativ Anand’s name was imprinted but the photograph was that of Sashi.

Kumar, the JD (U) MLA from Simri Bakhtiarpur under Madhepura district, entered the Assembly defeating Congress state president Mehboob Ali Quaiser in the last polls.

State human resource development minister Anjani Kumar Singh has directed district magistrate Minaaz Alam to take strict action against those involved in the incident.

Initially, Alam confirmed the incident. However, he was not sure if Anand was the son of the JD (U) MLA.

Taking serious note of the incident, Nitish termed it an unfortunate episode.

Speaking at the Assembly, he said the government would investigate the incident and those involved in the crime will not be spared.
