Patna, March 18: Bhojpuri films are geared up to make their presence felt during the days of Bihar Divas celebrations.
While there shall be various celebrations across Bihar, the state’s information and public relations (IPRD) department will show Bhojpuri films and documentaries during the 99th anniversary.
The department today screened four movies in Mona theatre, Kal Hamara Hai, Nadiya Ke Paar, Damul and Maithli film Kakhan Harab Dukh Mor.
The movies were played in the presence of IPRD minister Brishen Patel, who spoke about the relevance of movies in society.
Patel said: “Films are the mirror of society. Cinema often has a big impact on society and everyone loves to watch them. Good movies can really bring about a change in life. Films have much more than just entertainment.”
The minister said: “If Hindi is a national language today, the movies that have been made have had a big impact as they are watched across every corner of the country.”
He said the main objective behind organising the programme is to bring back the past glory of the state and its movies. “Issues like discrimination on the basis of caste and communalism are appropriately dealt with in these films. Not everything can be said in words, and that is where the role of good movies come in,” the minister said.
IPRD secretary Rajesh Bhushan earlier said on the occasion of Bihar Divas, the department will organise a Bhojpuri festival on March 23, 24 and 25.
Seven Bhojpuri films will be played at Mona Theatre, while 12 Bhojpuri films would be shown in AN Sinha Institute.
