Patna, March 24: Much like it started two days ago, Bihar Divas 2012 ended today with enthralling performances by renowned artistes from across the country.

The centenary celebrations of the state saw legendary artistes like Pandit Jasraj, Javed Akhtar, Ustad Rashid Khan, Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, Ustad Mustafa Khan apart from Bollywood singers like Udit Narayan, Richa Sharma, Ravindra Upadhyaya, Babul Supriyo, Sumedha Karmahe and Kailash Kher perform in the state capital.

Shatrughan Sinha and Hema Malini remained the centre of attraction at the extravaganza.

Among the performances on the last day of the event were a group dance by 100 artistes and a laser show. Singers Kailash Kher and Sumedha Karmahe entertained the audience with their popular numbers.

Ananya Sharma, a reveller, arrived two hours earlier to grab a seat on the front row. She said: “Kailash Kher is my all-time favourite. I love his voice. I could not come on the first two days but today I made sure I get the best view of the stage. I love all his (Kailash’s) songs right from Allah ke bande, Teri deewani and others.” She added: “I wish I could ask him to sing some of my favourite songs but today it’s not possible. I liked Sumedha too. She is really talented.”

Prakash Kumar, who attended the fest on all three days, said: “Such events are not held on a regular basis. I got to see live performances of so many great artistes. It’s a different feeling and I am just loving it.”

The other venue of celebrations, SK Memorial Hall, saw performances by vocalist Ustad Gulam Mustafa Khan and sarod player Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, who regaled the audience with some soul-stirring performances.

Anjana Rai, a classical vocalist herself, said: “I am a vocalist but I love sarod and when it is someone as famous as Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, I cannot afford to miss the performance. I was thrilled to be here this evening to watch Ustadji play sarod for us.”
