Patna: Bihar Chamber of Commerce and Industries has demanded that the headquarters of at least one of the 21 nationalised banks be set up in Patna to give better and comprehensive banking network to people, and aid the development of a backward state like Bihar.

It has pointed out that of 41 directors appointed to these nationalised banks not one is from Bihar, an indication of the of importance banking systems accord to Bihar. The headquarters of nationalised banks are in New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Calcutta, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pune, Baroda, Mangalore and Manipal.

"Non-existence of any nationalised bank's head office here and non-appointment of any representative director of any nationalised bank from Bihar is restricting economic growth here," BCCI president P.K. Agrawal said.
