Patna: The bus service between Kargil Chowk and Danapur, which was to start from March 27, will start from the second week of April thanks to delay in training the drivers and other issues related to identifying the stops.
Sources said other reasons for the delay include workload related to the financial year-end and printing of tickets.
Transport secretary Sanjay Kumar Agarwal said: "Earlier it was decided to start the service within 10 days but due to training of drivers and other issue, it has been extended. We have decided to start the service by the second week of April, probably by April 10."
He added that transport minister Santosh Nirala has been apprised of the date as he would formally inaugurate the service. The Bihar State Road Transport Corporation, a wing of the transport department, is launching the service.
Agarwal said: "We have identified 22 bus stops and the training of drivers has been completed. The fare has been finalised with a minimum of Rs 5 and a maximum of Rs 15. Other reasons for delay were permit from the department and fitness test of the buses."
Persons found travelling without tickets would be fined and the conductor would be fined 20 times the ticket rate. There would be flying squads which will randomly inspect the bus to check its service.
