Patna, May 27: When Ashwini Kumar sat down in front of the computer this morning, he was not nervous a bit. This student of Patna Central School was confident that he would perform well.

But minutes after the CBSE Class XII results were posted online around 9.10am, Ashwini was running all around his house. His cool composure was replaced by excited celebrations.

“I was sure I would get 90 per cent but when I saw my results, I jumped with joy and started running all around the house. My parents were smiling and hugged me,” said Ashwini.

The science student, whose core subjects were physics, chemistry and mathematics, scored 94.2 per cent. He wants to study engineering at an IIT.

“I have got the second highest score in my school but I am okay with it. With this score, I am confident to crack IIT-JEE,” Ashwini said.

His parents, too, are very happy with his performance. “We are very happy and Ashwini has made us proud. When we saw the results, we were smiling with joy. We called all our relatives to share the good news.” The telephone in his house has not stopped ringing since then.

For the youth, it is now time to party and have fun.

“I am planning to hang out with my friends and party hard. We will go for shopping and for movies,” said Ashwini.

He was not the only one celebrating. The students of CBSE-affiliated city schools like Notre Dame Academy, St Michael’s School, Loyola Senior Secondary School and St Karen’s Secondary School started coming to their educational institutions to celebrate their success.

The teachers and school authorities, too, joined the students in their celebrations.

R.P. Singh, deputy director (academic and administration), Ishan International School, said: “I am satisfied with the result of the students of my school. Of 214 students who took the exam, 213 have passed.”

Anita Singh, the principal of Krishna Niketan School, said: “The topper from my school, Priyanka Jain, has scored 91 per cent. Four other students have scored 90 per cent and above.”

The students of Bihar and Jharkhand had to wait a tad longer than their counterparts in the other parts of India for their results. The CBSE results for the rest of India were published on May 23. A delay in the evaluation of answer scripts deferred the results of the Patna region that includes Bihar and Jharkhand.

Sources said the pass percentage for the region this year was 71.2. Of the 62,541 students who took the examinations in March this year, 42,705 passed. The success rate of girls (81.1) was higher than that of boys (66.5).
