Patna, April 18: The Janata Dal (United) on Thursday stepped up the heat on its ally, the BJP, after the saffron party’s chief, Rajnath Singh, met the core committee from Bihar in New Delhi to discuss the rift in the NDA.

“All JD(U) cadres are hurt at the manner in which our alliance colleagues singled out our chief minister, Nitish Kumar, for attack for his speech at the party’s national council meeting on Sunday,” state party chief Basishtha Narayan Singh told reporters while the BJP was holding its meet in New Delhi.

With Nitish away on a three-day sojourn in West Champaran’s Valmiki Nagar forests, his state party boss has, apparently, taken up the charge of returning the fire on the BJP.

“How can one object to what Nitishji said at the JD(U)’s conclave? He talked about a secular prime ministerial candidate, inclusive growth and India’s multiplicity.

Nitish never named anyone while talking in the context of the prime ministerial candidate. We have just made our suggestions, which we are well within our rights to do,” Singh said.
