Patna, Nov. 1: The JD(U) today alleged that fake Facebook accounts of chief minister Nitish Kumar are being run by unknown people to create confusion among the masses.
The party also warned of stern legal action against such persons.
The matter came to light after a row broke out between the BJP and the JD(U) over “indecent pictures and comments” posted on the Facebook wall of Nitish Kumar.
The two parties engaged in the row following the Hunkar Rally on October 27.
BJP leaders alleged that photographs of a woman singer had been uploaded on chief minister’s wall and it stated that the singer was used in drawing crowds at the Hunkar Rally.
Former chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi had clarified that the woman whose photograph was uploaded was actually a BJP worker. An hour-long cultural show was organised during the Hunkar Rally by cultural artists before Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi came to Gandhi Maidan.
Senior JD(U) leader and a confidant of Nitish, Sanjay Jha, said some fake Facebook accounts are being run in the name of Nitish. “They are attempting to create confusion and instigate an online war of words. We are warning those who are indulging in these cheap stunts to refrain from such activities,” he said. Jha added that the official Facebook page of Nitish is www.Facebook.com/NitishKumarJDU.
“I will initiate a legal action according to the provisions of cyber laws in India,” he said. Jha added that in the interest of public information, people should note that the CM’s Facebook ID is just one and some vested interests might want to attribute political motives by selectively citing from one of the fake accounts.
Reiterating people to take note of the official ID, Jha said: “We have recently launched the Facebook page since we consider this as a vital tool to connect with the youth and crores of mobile users accessing various social media platforms on their cellphones in the state and outside. Bihar is making rapid strides and it is critical that we connect seamlessly with people and inform them about the various developments under Nitish.”
