BJP MLA Neeraj Kumar Singh Bablu arrives on cycle at the Assembly in Patna on Monday. The legislator claimed he was following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's advice to avoid use of vehicles once a week. During his Mann ki Baat radio broadcast on Sunday, Modi said the dream of 'New India' could be fulfilled through small steps in life such as citizens' resolve not to use petrol or diesel once a week.Sporting sunglasses, blue jeans, white shirt and sneakers, the 46-year-old MLA from Chhatapur in Supaul district cycled to the House from his Beer Chand Patel Marg residence at 11.10am covering the distance of less than 2km in half-an-hour.Bablu's two bodyguards also came on cycle."I believe that if everyone starts cycling once a week, we can contribute something to the nation. Riding a cycle is also good for health and I will appeal to others to do the same," Bablu said."I will urge chief minister Nitish Kumar to ask his MLAs, ministers and officers to use cycle once a week to reach the Assembly and their offices respectively. I will also urge him to get a cycle track laid in Patna. If such tracks are laid, I swear to cycle to the Assembly daily," he said.
