Patna, Nov. 29: St Michael’s High School today celebrated Annual Day-Celebration of Celebrities to mark Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s 125th birth anniversary at the institution.
The event was a celebration of talent, creativity, expressing faith and enjoying life to the fullest.
Addressing the audience, Father Peter Arockiasamy SJ said: “Kindergarten classes would start from the 2015 session. Now, students can join the prestigious Michael’s right from the age of four.”
The evening was dedicated to a slew of cultural programmes, including classical song, classical dance, recitals, drama and skits. It started with a classical performance on raag desh fused with taan, tarana and taap.
The tiny tots won many hearts with their flawless musical dance drama, Peace Child, sharing the message of peace and harmony.
“It is really amazing to see small kids performing so well. My son also performed in the musical dance drama. He was really nervous,” said Chubul Gosh, whose son is a Class II student.
The senior secondary student presented a drama Déjà vu, reflecting the tension among students in competing in the expected field of their parents. Appreciating the performance by the students, Aishwarya Sharma said: “This drama was an eye-opener for the parents. I really liked the way they expressed their feelings. The theme and the acting were really incredible.”
Prizes were raining on the students under the different categories — Best Michaelite Award, Award for 100 per cent attendance, academic excellence, best sportsperson, best actor, co-curricular activities, CBSE toppers and recognition of students who have excelled in IIT/JEE and medical entrance examination.
Rounak Singh, the Best Michaelite, jumped in excitement after his name was announced. “It’s an honour for any student to be the Best Michaelite. I am really happy and will try to be consistent in academics as well as co-curricular activities,” said Rounak.
Appreciating the performance by the students, chief guest Justice Ashutosh Kumar of Patna High Court said: “Any school is inherited by a number of entrepreneurs and the capability to excel in various fields. I congratulate all the students for such beautiful and power-packed performances.”
