Chhapra, Jan. 17: Saran police today arrested nine members of a criminal gang after receiving a tip-off they were at Marhaura, sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Dilnawaj Ahmad said.

Teams comprising six officers-in-charge and a deputy superintendent of police were formed to nab the gang. Four criminals were arrested from Marhaura and five more were caught on their information from Chhapra, the SDPO said.

They had a contract to kill one Tejan Rai of Chhapra for Rs 40,000 and had also planned to loot jewellery shops in Marhaura and kidnap a BTech student from Garkha, he added.
