The Bihar legislative Council proceedings were washed out for the second consecutive day on Wednesday amid demonstrations by Grand Alliance and opposition BJP members in the Well of the House.
Pandemonium broke out the moment the Council met. RJD, JDU and Congress MLAs rushed to the Well seeking an apology from senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi for allegedly orchestrating sloganeering against RJD chief Lalu Prasad, Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and describing them as agents of black money on Monday.
Rabri asserted over the microphone that the House will not be allowed to function "till Sushil apologises". She said: "BJP is a thief party and has hidden much black money. It should be probed by the CBI."
BJP chief whip in the legislative Council, Rajnish Kumar, moved an adjournment motion over a personal remark involving Nitish and Sushil Modi that Rabri had made on Tuesday and demanded a discussion on it.
Soon, BJP legislators trooped into the Well of the House and shouted slogans against Lalu and Sonia. Council chairman Awadhesh Kumar Singh rejected the adjournment motion and appealed to everybody to return to their respective seats but his entreaties fell on deaf ears and adjourned the House till 1pm. The same situation repeated when the House met again, after which the adjournment was extended till 2.30pm. The chairman convened an all-party meeting to resolve the deadlock but the ruling parties stuck to their demand and the House was adjourned till Thursday noon.
