Munger, Feb. 3: Police remained clueless on Tuesday - a day after a bank manager and an accountant were abducted.
The manager of Canara Bank's Rajala branch, Om Prakash Paswan, and accountant Ranjeet Kumar, were abducted around 8pm on Monday on their way back home to Jhajha, around 15km from their office, after completing their day's work. The incident occurred at Shatighat, around 200km from Patna.
Paswan's son Abhinav Kumar lodged an FIR on Tuesday at Jhajha police station against unknown persons, claiming that the abductors had demanded Rs 25 lakh as ransom from the family. Sources said no FIR was lodged by the family of the accountant, as they do not reside in Jhajha. The source, however, added that a ransom of Rs 30 lakh to the accountant's family in Patna for his release.
Jhajha station house officer Neeraj Kumar said: 'The abductors called up manager's family on Monday evening and allowed Paswan to speak to his family for few seconds after which the line snapped. Prior to this, the abductors had demanded the ransom money. They have not made any call after that.'
The only success has been recovery of the bike on which the manager and the accountant were returning home. It was recovered near Shatighat cremation ground on the Rajala-Jhajha main road, around 4km from Jhajha. The bike belongs to Paswan.Sources said some clues had been found after recovery of the bike and a team under the leadership of Jamui superintendent of police Upendra Prasad Singh was conducting raids to arrest the criminals.
