The son of a police sub-inspector, who used to lead a gang of road robbers, was arrested on Sunday night.

The special task force (STF) caught hold of the nine gangsters, including its kingpin Sonu Kumar, who is the son of police sub-inspector Birendra Kumar Singh posted in Patna.

Senior superintendent of police Rajesh Kumar said that the STF men picked up the outlaws while they were planning to commit crime at Khabra on Sunday.

He added that the police recovered three sophisticated pistols, eight cartridges, five looted motorbikes, two laptops, two video cameras and 12 cellphone handsets.

The criminals have been identified as Sonu Kumar, Gaurav Kumar, Abhishek Kumar, Prem Kumar, Ankit Kumar, Om Rai, Sunni Kumar, Mukesh Kumar and Utsav Kumar.
