Patna, July 15: Three back-to-back police raids today unearthed three illegal manufacturing-cum-storage units of veterinary medicines, fake health drinks and different chemicals in the state capital.

The raids, which started at 12.30pm, was led by Patna city superintendent of police (SP) Shivdeep Lande and detected huge manufacturing units that were not complying to any kind of norm or regulation, over the next two hours.

The team first stormed a house in Dharhara Kothi area of Kadamkuan. The rooms had several manufacturing and packaging machines of veterinary medicines. Some unskilled labourers were producing the medicines and filling them up in small glass bottles. “A licence is mandatory for manufacturing and packing these medicines. We suspect that medicines were being produced here before being labelled with the name of Rocks and Ricks, a company based at Khagra in Bengal. The drug inspector has been called who will check whether these medicines are fake,” Lande said.

The next raid was conducted in the opposite house. But the occupants had fled after locking the doors.

The team broke into the house to find a health drink named Protein-X being manufactured locally under a different brand name. “Glaxo produces this drink. Here, they were being manufactured under the name of Glaco,” Lande added.

The team then drove to Khazanchi Road area under Pirbhore police station and raided a two-storeyed building. The police broke open the door and barged in.

“We have recovered huge drums in which these drugs were being made and stored. The local police station has been asked to confiscate the goods and start an inquiry,” the SP said adding: “Police raids will continue.”
