Devotees might have to wait a while to pray to the Sun on Doosri Arghya, as weathermen have predicted misty conditions on Saturday.

Revellers who would accompany the vratis (the one who fasts) would be well advised to wear warm clothes and carry some for the devotees as well.

The nip in the air won’t prick too much, as the minimum temperature is not expected to drop below 16°C at any time during the next 48 hours. The weather on Friday evening would be comfortable.

Ashish Sen, director, India Meteorological Department (IMD), Patna, told The Telegraph on Thursday: “The next two days are most likely to be bright with no possibility of precipitation. Mist is expected till 8 in the morning and after 8 in the night. At the time of offering arghya on Friday evening, the humidity level would be in the range of 50-60 per cent and on Saturday morning, 80-90 per cent. It is expected to be comfortable.”

At the time of sunset on Friday, the temperature would be around 22°C-23°C.

About Saturday morning, Sen said: “Though there would be no fog; mist is expected at the time of the morning arghya (Doosri Arghya). Visibility would be around 1.5km because of which the Sun is likely to be clearly visible after it is slightly above the horizon. So, the devotees might need to stand for an extra 15 to 20 minutes after sunrise. The visibility would improve to around 2-2.5km from 9am.”

Although the temperature around 6am, when the devotees would take the holy dip, is expected to be around 16°C, Sen added it could feel at least one degree Celsius lower.

Rajeev Ranjan Prasad, faculty member, physiology, Patna Medical College and Hospital, said: “Those going to the ghats early on Saturday morning, especially children and the elderly, should wear warm clothes and cover their ears to protect themselves from the cold.”
