Patna: The state National Democratic Alliance (NDA) plans to showcase a united face in the ensuing bypoll for the Araria Lok Sabha constituency and the Jehanabad and Bhabua Assembly seats.
On March 7, chief minister Nitish Kumar is going to hold two public meetings in Araria, where the BJP has fielded former MP Pradeep Singh.
Union minister of state for human resource development (HRD) department Upendra Kushwaha too will address a public meeting on March 6, while LJP parliamentary board chairman and Jamui MP Chirag Paswan will address a public meeting on March 8 in Pradeep's support.
BJP state president and BJP MP from Ujiyarpur Nityanand Rai said: "The NDA will showcase a united face in the by-elections. All senior NDA leaders from its constituent parties, including chief minister Nitish Kumar, RLSP MP and Union minister Upendra Kushwaha and LJP Chirag Paswan, will campaign for party candidates."
While the BJP has fielded Pradeep Singh from the Araria Lok Sabha constituency, Rinky Rani Devi, the BJP leader and widow of Anand Bhushan Pandey, who had won the Bhabua seat in 2015 and died in November 2017, will contest the seat from Bhabua Assembly.
The Jehanabad seat has gone to the JDU kitty with the party fielding Abhiram Sharma from the Jehanabad Assembly seat.
The NDA constituents showing a united face assume importance, as when the candidate for Jehanabad was announced, there were reports about rumblings within NDA partners.
State BJP president said: "RLSP leader and Union minister Upendra Kushwaha campaigning in support of NDA leaders is a tight slap on the Opposition's face, especially that of the RJD, which has been creating fissures within NDA constituents."
The BJP, on the other hand, has started preparations for the bypolls. On Sunday, BJP national general secretary and party state in-charge Bhupendra Yadav along with state president Nityanand Rai and Araria in-charge and minister Prem Kumar held meeting with party cadres and leaders.
