Patna, Nov. 27: Police are checking the antecedents of Madhubani resident Ajay Kumar Choudhary, netted for allegedly sending a text message threatening to blow up chief minister Nitish Kumar. Ajay was sent to jail on Friday.

Patna senior superintendent of police Vikas Vaibhav said Ajay had readily admitted that he had sent the text message. He added that the accused had listed wild grievances against the chief minister, the biggest being the state's failure to protect him from terror threats since the time of the arrest of Yasin Bhatkal of Indian Mujahideen in 2013.

"We cannot take Ajay's statement lightly because it is related to the IM. He will be interrogated further. He has been sent to jail but the police will take him on remand," said the SSP.

"The fact that he confidently admitted his guilt raises suspicion. We just know he is a Madhubani resident and used to work in Gujarat. We nabbed him from Madhubani last evening by tracking his mobile tower location," added the officer.
