The state education department on Tuesday asked the Jehanabad district administration to conduct a probe into the alleged rape of a 12-year-old girl student on the premises of a government school after medical tests couldn't confirm the crime.

"I have asked Jehanabad district magistrate Manoj Kumar Singh to conduct the probe in the alleged rape incident of the girl student at Kako village and submit the report to the education department," education secretary Jitendra Srivastava told The Telegraph on Tuesday.

The crime was allegedly committed on Saturday.

Jehanabad police, however, said medical tests have not confirmed sexual assault of the girl. "The medical team that submitted its report didn't confirm rape," said Jehanabad SP Aditya Kumar.

The girl's mother, who is a teacher in the same government school where her daughter studies, had alleged that the principal and three teachers had gang-raped her daughter.

Based on the statement of the mother, an FIR was lodged at the women's police station in the district.

In her statement to the police, the mother alleged that the four accused had taken her daughter to the roof of the school building and committed the crime.

The mother had said that she had found her daughter in a "dishevelled" condition on the roof of the school.

Jehanabad District Education Officer (DEO) Bijuli Ram claimed the girl's mother did not approach the DEO's office but lodged a complaint at the women's police station.

"As no complaint was lodged by the girl's mother, we came to know about the incident only on January 15 when a journalist made a call on my cellphone," Ram said.
