School tourney
St Michael's High School Team A defeated DAV-BSEB with three wickets to spare on Thursday in the first quarterfinal of the Father Pedro Arrupe Memorial Inter-school Cricket Tournament.
The tournament is being held at St Michael's High School.
In the second match between Don Bosco Academy and St Karen's High School, Don Bosco failed to reach the target of 100 runs.
Workshop for NGOs
Functionaries of NGOs across Bihar on Thursday were briefed about the importance of the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act, 2010, and its various provisions to know what provisions they need to follow for accepting foreign funds while carrying out grassroots projects.
The event was organised by Bihar Voluntary Health Association. Vivek Kumar from, international donor agency Oxfam, briefed the participants about the nuances of the act and said the purpose of enacting the legislation was to ensure foreign funds were not used for works detrimental to the national interest.
Bihar Voluntary Health Association office-bearer Vinay Fidelis said: "There are several NGOs working at the grassroots level without knowing anything about the provisions of the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act. We have organised this workshop for the benefit of such NGOs."
T20 match
Aadarsh International School and RPS Residential School reached the quarter-final of the 3rd All India Veer Kunwar Singh Gold Cup Inter School U-17 T20 cricket tournament at Moinul Haque Stadium on Thursday.
While Aadarsh International School defeated Ideal Public School by 29 runs, RPS Residential School reached the quarter final defeating Scholar Abode School by 94 runs.
The final is on May 4.
Agitation against govt
Ati Pichra Aarakshan Bachao Morcha, Bihar, an organisation working for the Extremely Backward classes, has decided to launch an agitation from May 3, in phases, to protest against the government's decision to include the Teli and Tamoli classes in the EBC category. Both classes were under the backward classes group.
Kishori Das, a member of the association, said the decision to include the Teli and Tamoli classes to EBCs was politically motivated and was being done to bag votes of both the classes in the Assembly polls.
