Indira Sinha Memorial Educational Foundation organised a seminar on emancipative education and the Sulabh movement at Indian Medical Association hall on Saturday. Bindeshwar Pathak, founder of Sulabh Sanitation Movement, graced the function.
He said the country needs an estimated 11.5 crore toilets and there is a need to create a pool of 50,000 youth who should be trained in this. "Recycling and use of human excreta for biogas generation is an important way to rid human excreta of health hazards, besides promoting use of biogas for cooking, lighting and electricity generation," he said. Assembly Speaker Uday Narayan Chaudhary, information commissioner of Bihar Arun Kumar Verma and Veer Kunwar Singh University's former vice chancellor IC Kumar and Bindeshwar launched a book, Women Empowerment, by Shashi Bhushan Prasad Singh at the event.
College of Commerce event
The College of Commerce (Magadh University), Patna, celebrated its first ever alumni meet, since the college came up in 1949, on Saturday.
Principal Prof Baban Singh presided over the event. He said the event would provide students a platform to reminiscence their college years. The principal said the college was planning to upload information about its alumni so that people can locate their classmates and friends. A College of Commerce Alumni Group was formed after the function. The alumnis agreed it was an amazing event.
Dance and music show

Nitrayaramb celebrated its dance and musical event in Patna on Saturday. Established a year ago, the organisation abounds with talent. Children from the age of three and above learn classical music and dance here. All kinds of dance forms and instruments, from Kathak to guitar, are taught here. Children danced away to classical music and trendy Bollywood numbers. Centre head Arvind Kumar Singh, a Kathak dancer himself, said some of the students picked up the dance within two months and were ready to perform. Harshit Shankar a young flute player and son of Bihar's well-known flautist Anil Shankar, entranced the audience with his magical performance. Nehal Prashad, 6, and Shraddha, 3, enthralled all.
School cricket tournament
St Michael's High School marked the inauguration of the 15th Father Arrupe Memorial Inter-School Cricket Tournament 2015 on Saturday. Eight Patna schools, including Don Bosco Academy, Loyola High School and DAV BSEB are participating in the Twenty20 cricket contest. The inaugural match was between St Michael's and Litera Valley School. St Michael's defeated Litera. On Sunday, the first match is between DAV, BSEB and St Michael's and the second match between St Karen's High School and Loyola High School.
