The children made PowerPoint presentations on "Global climate change and its impact on human life" and were judged by a panel of Ashok Rastogi (former geology faculty member at Patna Science College) and Rakesh Kumar Singh (nano-science faculty member of Aryabhatt Knowledge University).

The results would be declared on Thursday. The co-ordinator of the event, Sathish Ranjan, said: "Every year on Earth Day, we organise such programmes to generate awareness among the people but our duty does not end here. We need to make efforts throughout the year to realise the goal of a clean environment."

Talk on J&K

The Jammu Kashmir Study Centre and Chanakya National Law University jointly organised a discussion on the legal and constitutional status of Jammu & Kashmir, in the city on Tuesday.

Article 370 of the Constitution grants special autonomous status to Jammu and Kashmir. Speakers - Arun Kumar, director, Jammu Kashmir Study Centre, Supreme Court advocate Anirudh Rajput, former vice-chancellor of Patna University Sudipto Adhikari and CNLU vice-chancellor A. Laxminath - shared their views on the topic.

Anirudh said it had clearly been mentioned in the Constitution that Jammu and Kashmir was an integral part of the country. The lawyer said those who argued that Article 370 was intended to guarantee extra-territorial autonomy to Kashmir attempt to overstretch the positioning of the article.

Documentary starts

Chief secretary Anjani Kumar Singh and his wife Purnima Shekhar Singh (a college teacher) launched the shooting of a documentary on Tuesday.

Titled Chhoo Lo Aasman, the documentary would narrate the story of a differently abled man from Patna, Suman Ranjit. Brahmanand Pandey, who has to his credit a crime serial telecast on a regional channel, will direct it. Suman was present at the mahurat and delighted for being the subject of the 45-minute work.

Pandey said Suman's life was a tale of inspiration for differently abled people let down by society. Suman, who was affected by polio at the age of two years old, has in fact travelled to Kargil during the 1999 war. He has launched a campaign in Punjab against terrorism and recently made headlines for climbing down Biscomaun Bhavan with a rope.
