Bihar lifted the 4th All India MP Verma Cricket Cup 2015, played at the Moinul Haque Stadium on Sunday, by defeating Bengal by 179 runs in a final that was more of a one-sided affair for the host state.

Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Bihar made 236 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the 35 overs. Former Union minister Subodh Kant Sahay and former cricketer Surendra Khanna gave away the prizes to the winner and runner-up.

AIIMS modular OTs

Three modular operation theatres, which came up at a cost of Rs 1 crore, have started functioning at AIIMS-Patna. Dr Vikas Agrawal, an ENT surgeon of Mumbai, conducted two surgeries along with Kranti Bhavana, head of ENT department at AIIMS-Patna at the new theatre. AIIMS Patna's medical superintendent Umesh Kumar Bhadani,said: "Modular OTs lay special emphasis on decreasing infection rate. There is a laminar airflow system in modular OT to keep it bacteria-free."

Cancer camp

Mithila Utthan Sangh, an NGO, organised a cancer check-up camp on Sunday. Health minister Ramdhani Singh inaugurated the programme, "Beat the Cancer, Change the World". The theme of the programme was "Equality in Health for All". Doctors from Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, Delhi, attended the camp. Under their guidance, free investigations were conducted and medicines provided to around 300 people who came for consultation.

Steroid workshop

Association of Clinical Dermatologists of India organised a workshop on steroid abuse on Sunday. Uncontrolled use of topical steroid cream can trigger scars, infections and many types of skin diseases. Anupama, an assistant professor of PMCH's skin department, said: "The uncontrolled use of topical steroid creams can result in stretch marks, redness of the face, tinea incognito (fungal infection) among others."
