It is not everyday that a student declines admission to Harvard University but city boy Sharad Vivek Sagar has exactly done that.

Sharad (24), who got a scholarship offer for his masters in International Education Policy at Harvard University three months back, is back in Patna. Sharad has decided to devote his entire time to Dexterity Global, an internationally acclaimed social enterprise that he founded in 2008. The organisation has various platforms through which it works for honing entrepreneurship and leadership skills among school and college students across the world.

Sharad received a $16,000 grant from Harvard Graduate School of Education but he declined the offer.

"Getting admission into the prestigious Harvard University is definitely something to be proud of but I want to devote myself to the cause of other students who are talented but are not aware of the opportunities offered by noted institutions," said Sharad, who recently graduated from Tufts University, Massachusetts. Sharad's graduation subject was international relations and diplomacy.

"Through Dexterity Global, not only can students learn about the various opportunities provided by global institutions but can also nurture their skills," Sharad said. "Information regarding college fees, passport and accommodations are also provided. We want to help students to get admitted in the best institutions."

"Dex School is one of the platforms of Dexterity Global under which students are taught about entrepreneurship and leadership skills," said Sharad. "This year, Dex school will start from June 11. So far, students from India, Nepal and Bangladesh have made it to the Dex School. Students from European and African countries had applied but couldn't make it because of financial problems. Hence, we have decided to focus on travel scholarships as well."
