
Gaya district magistrate (DM) Kumar Ravi admires a painting by Veer Bahadur Thapa, 10, from Nepal at a painting competition organised by Bal Griha on Children's Day on Monday. Veer, rescued by a labour department team from Nawada a fortnight ago, won the first prize in the competition and Kumar Ravi's heart with his tale of woe. Ravi turned emotional when Veer began crying and asked him to send him to his parents in Nepal.The DM gave chocolates to the kids and gave assurances he will send all of them to their parents.He later said he has initiated a process to send Veer home.Thapa stays at Bal Griha, run by an NGO called Daudnagar Organisation for Rural Development, with 35 other children.A report from the child welfare committee and the Nepal government is required to send Thapa home, said child protection assistant director Alok Kumar.
