Patna: The Class II student who was allegedly molested by a sweeper in the washroom of Holy Cross International School in Danapur on Wednesday has in her deposition before the judicial magistrate corroborated the allegations levelled against the accused in the FIR.

The child recorded her statement before a magistrate on Thursday under Section 164 of the CrPC and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act, 2012. The FIR was lodged by the child's father with the Danapur police station a few hours after the incident took place around 1.30pm on Wednesday.

The accused, who the police identified as Ramji Prasad, was arrested after the parents of the child and guardians of other students launched a protest.

A woman sub-inspector posted at the Kotwali police station, Ranjana Kumari, too had recorded the girl's statement at Danapur police station.

In the statements, both of which were accessed by The Telegraph, the child alleged that the sweeper accosted her when she was returning to her classroom from the toilet. He dragged her into the toilet, undressed her and then sexually molested her.

The sweeper allegedly threatened her with dire consequences when she offered resistance. He relented only when she started crying for help.

The student said that on returning to her classroom, she shared her pain with her classmates, who subsequently informed class teacher Madhu Kumari. The teacher narrated the episode to principal-cum-director B.K. Thakur, who rebuked the sweeper.

The child, sources said, also told the police that earlier too, the sweeper had attempted to sexually harass her. That time she couldn't narrate her tale of woes.

Station house officer (SHO) of Danapur police station, Sanjeev Kumar Singh, said the police would submit the chargesheet in the case soon after receipt of the medical report.
