Patna, April 2: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today submitted chargesheet against Rupam Pathak, the prime accused in BJP legislator Rajkishore Keshari’s murder case, almost five weeks after taking over the probe of the high-profile case.
CBI joint director Javeed Ahmad told The Telegraph from Lucknow that the chargesheet had been submitted in the court of the special judicial magistrate, CBI, Patna, against one of the accused, Rupam Pathak, under Section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of Indian Penal Code.
“Submission of chargesheet against Rupam Pathak does not mean that the investigation in the case is complete. The investigation is still going on,” Ahmad clarified. He said all records related to the case have been transferred to the CBI court concerned in Patna from the Purnea chief judicial magistrate Daya Lal Prasad’s court .
Sources in the CBI said Rupam has not been booked under Section 302 (murder) of IPC, as expected earlier.
