A school welcomed the monsoon season with its tiny tots, while another invested its up and coming leaders with responsibilities. Students also tested their English skills in fun events. Faryal Rumi reports
DY PATIL PUSHPALATA PATIL INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL
Event: Rain dance celebration
Duration: Daylong
Special attraction: Around 200 pre-primary students danced in artificial rain to celebrate the onset of monsoon season. Students performed a prop dance using umbrellas, a peacock dance and created colourful and personalised boats. Games were also organised. Radhika K., the principal, said: “Monsoon is the best time of the year and students need to understand its importance.”
GYAN NIKETAN BOYS’ SCHOOL
Event: Investiture ceremony
Duration: One hour
Special attraction: Close to 200 students attended the investiture ceremony. Principal Shubodeep Dey and vice-principal Shailendra Mohan Jha presided over the ceremony which started with a rendition of We shall overcome by the school choir. Utkarsh took oath as head boy. Lucky and Jayant Jaiswal were sworn in deputy head boys.
S. RAZA HIGH SCHOOL
Event: English festival
Duration: One week
Special attraction: The school tested the students’ English skills. Director Saquib Raza and chairman Khalid Raza inaugurated the event. 500 students from classes lower KG to X participated in the various competitions such as debates, advertisement-making, movie-making, newspaper article writing, drama and reading.
