Gaadi yesterday, gamchha today. Forget the comfort of air-conditioned SUV, Dinesh Kumar Singh had to face the heat on Tuesday, literally.
The Jagdishpur MLA was forced to walk back to his city residence on Beer Chand Patel Marg in absence of his official car as it has been seized.
Around 11.20am, the House was adjourned till 2pm and there was no reason for the MLA to stay back in the Assembly.
In the sweltering heat, he was seen standing at the portico trying to hitch a hike to his MLA Flats 109/110 — hardly 2.5km away. He even asked for a lift from two MLAs but they were heading to the opposite direction. He then decided to walk, as he had done in the morning to reach the House.
Wrapping himself in a gamchha (towel) over his head and face, he said: “My vehicle is missing. I don’t know where the police have kept it. I have to walk in almost 40 degrees Celsius. It is disgusting.”
Exasperated, Dinesh said: “After walking for almost 2.5 km, I was not feeling well. Roadside dust and pollution made me feel uneasy. It took 20 minutes to reach my flat and as soon as I reached, I just sat under the fan for a while. I could not go for the second half proceedings in the Assembly.”
Sachivalaya deputy superintendent of police Manish Kumar said: “We lodged a case against Dinesh under Section 353 of the Indian Penal Code for preventing government officials from carrying out their duty.”
