Patna, April 12: Lions Club of Patna Favourite will organise a car rally on April 17 on the theme of development of Bihar. The rally to be organised under the supervision of Federation of Motor Sports Club of India would start from Patna and end in Rajgir.
The slogan of the car rally is “Vikas ki ore agrasit Bihar (Bihar on the route of development).”
District governor of the club, R.P. Singh, said: “The car rally is organised every year but this time it is for a cause: development. The funds generated from the rally will be utilised for the children of Ashadeep School for the disabled. The funds will also be utilised for other purposes.”
Former district governor of the club Anoop Singh said: “Two groups of people would participate in the rally. The first one is for women, where both the navigator and the pilot would be women. The other one is from the general category where anyone can take part.”
The treasurer of the club, Karuna Lal, said: “The rally will start from near Gandhi Maidan opposite St Xavier’s School and would end at Tathagat (hotel for tourists) in Rajgir. Time, speed and distance will be the criteria for judging the winners.”
Zonal chairperson Namita Singh said: “We want to send the message of our rally to the people of the villages as well. The rally route will be Patna-Bairiya Bazar-Sampatchak-Biroriyara-Gaurichak-Dhanarua-Okri village Kela Bigha-Telhara-Ekangar Sarai-Islampur and would finally reach Rajgir.”
District public relations officer of the club Ejaz Hussain said: “The message should reach maximum number of people so that they can come ahead for the benefit of the society.”
A member of the board of directors, Manju Singh, said: “The prize distri- bution ceremony will be held at Hotel Chanakya on April 19. Ten wheelchairs will be donated to IGIMS on the occasion.”
President Usha Jha and other members of the club were present at the meet.
