Patna, April 6: Representatives of Canada-based Lord Cultural Resources (LCR) firm made a presentation today before chief minister Nitish Kumar about the works done by the firm in setting up world-class structures in different countries.

LCR head Barry Lord and its India representative Butul Raj Mehta jointly made the presentation.

The presentation was made in connection with the setting up of a world-class museum in Patna.

The art and culture department has shortlisted the company for playing the role of master plan consultant for the project.

Art and culture department minister Sukhda Pandey and senior government officials, including chief secretary Anup Mukerji and development commissioner K.C. Saha, were also present during the course of the presentation.

Nitish watched the presentation very keenly and also extended several suggestions with regard to the proposed world-class museum during the course of the presentation.

“The decision with regard to the appointment of master plan consultant has to be approved by the cabinet and before sending a proposal in this regard for cabinet approval the presentation was arranged so that the state government could have the idea about the firm, which has been shortlisted to play the role of consultant for this important project,” principal secretary of art and culture department K.P. Ramaiah said adding that the proposal was likely to be sent for cabinet approval in 15 days.

LCR representatives briefed the chief minister about the various aspects of a world-class museum.

The firm has played the role of master consultant in about 1,800 such projects in 48 countries.

Some of the major structures for which LCR extended consultancy services are the National September 11 Monument of New York, Singapore Museum, Lord King Abdul Aziz Centre for World Culture at Dhahran in Saudi Arabia and West Kowloon Cultural District in Hong Kong.

Ramaiah said the consultant for the master plan is of great importance as the consultant would finalise the name of architect and gallery designers for setting up the museum in Patna.

The idea of setting up the museum was conceived around one-and-a-half year back.

The state government has identified a 17-acre plot along Bailey Road of Patna.

The cost of the project would be known once its design is finalised.

Ramaiah said matters related to the existing museum of Patna were also discussed.
