SNAPSHOTS: Vanijya Mahavidyalaya students at the foundation day function on campus

Harish Chandra Singh Rathore, the vice-chancellor of Central University of South Bihar, congratulated the editorial team of CUMEDHA, the varsity's student magazine, on Wednesday.

He said the magazine was a platform where teachers and students came together and shared their thoughts on important issues. CUMEDHA, Rathore added, will help the university strengthen its national character.

Also present at the ceremony were pro-vice-chancellor O.P. Rai, registrar Gayathri Vishwanath Patil and the editorial team comprising faculty members and students. Rai said the magazine allowed teachers and students to exhibit their skills and innovative ideas and that the reputation of an institute depended on the calibre and achievement of its teachers and students.

Editor of the magazine Sujeet Kumar said the magazine has sections on articles, poems, achievements and the Central University of South Bihar family among others.

Seminar season

Experts discussed use of quantum physics - modern physics that explains the nature and behaviour of matter and energy on the atomic and sub-atomic level - in technology at the national seminar organised by National Institute of Technology, Patna, last week.

Lorenzo Maccone from University of Pavia (Italy) delivered a talk on quantum time and Sibashish Ghosh from Institute of Medical Sciences (Chennai) gave a presentation on quantum mechanics.

Dignitaries from Calcutta, Allahabad and Japan among others attended the seminar and spoke to the participants.

Sportsman spirit

Vanijya Mahavidyalaya, a constituent college of Patna University, celebrated its 65th foundation day function on Thursday.

Chief guest K.N. Paswan, pro-vice-chancellor of Magadh University, said on the occasion: "Vanijya Mahavidyalaya has not made its mark only in education, but also in the field of games and sports has its students excelled."

He presented gold medals to the students for their academic and extra-curricular activities while principal B.N. Pandey highlighted the institution's history.

Jyoti Kumari, who secured the first position in the annual sports meet with gold medals in 100m, 200m and 400m, was also felicitated at the programme.

One of the students, Vinit Prakash said: "On the college's annual day, we organised various cultural functions involving the participation of not only us students but also the teachers."

Blood donation

Students, teachers and non-teaching employees attended a blood donation camp at Magadh Mahila College on Wednesday, as has been a tradition the past few years.

Inaugurating the camp, principal Shashi Sharma said: "Blood donation is a noble cause and through participation of students we want to create an awareness."

The administration organises the camp every year in December. Students from different departments and National Service Scheme participated in it.
