Patna, Nov. 26: Police recovered the bodies of two businessmen brothers from their rented room on Jamal Road late last night.
The brothers, identified as Abhishek Kumar and Sagar Kumar, were tortured by assailants before they were killed. The body bears injury marks, including on the private parts, which were severed from the bodies.
The murder of the businessmen duo in the heart of the state capital - Jamal Road is buzzing with activities for business purpose round-the-clock - has once again posed a serious question on the law and order claims.
Twenty-four hours later, the Gandhi Maidan police is yet to gather a lead in the murder. Gandhi Maidan station house officer Uttim Singh said: "Police have detained six persons for questioning who used to live in the same Kumar Complex where Abhishek and Sagar used to live."
Kumar Complex located on Jamal Road, around a kilometre from Patna Junction, is a commercial-cum-residential apartment. The ground and first floors are for commercial purposes with many shops, while the other floors are meant for residential purpose. Brothers Abhishek and Sagar, who dealt in mobile accessories, lived in one of the room on the fourth floor of the complex.
Uttim Singh said: "Prima facie, it appears that the two brothers were killed owing to love affairs."
The SHO said the way in which the two persons were murdered pointed to assailant/s having a deep anger for the brothers. Apart from assailants cutting the private parts of the two, Abhishek's stomach was also slit with the intestines spilling out.
The police today handed over the bodies to the family members after performing the post-mortem. The bodies were discovered last night after the brothers' maternal uncle Anil Kumar and younger brother Bholu reached Kumar Complex. Anil said: "On reaching Kumar Complex, we noticed that the door of the room was locked from outside. As the younger brother, Golu had prior knowledge that his brothers used to keep the door keys on the room ventilator. On opening the room, we were shocked to see the scene." Seeing the mutilated body parts, Anil and Golu informed the police about the incident.
Police sources claimed that the incident could have occurred on Thursday, as family members were getting no response from the victims' cellphones since Thursday. Yesterday, Anil and Golu reached Patna from Narayanpur in Ara district to know about the whereabouts of the two brothers.
Sources claimed that someone known to them could have committed the crime. A policeman on condition of anonymity said: "Someone known to the two brothers had committed the crime. The person/s known to Abhishek and Sagar had entered the room and after spending some time with them might have killed them. The assailant/s might have entered the room with the purpose of murder as the no other item in the room was out of place."
Sources added that the assailant/s executed the crime with such precision that even the other inhabitants of Kumar Complex had no information about the incident.
