Patna, Oct. 6: The British government has invited Bihar rural development minister Nitish Mishra to tour the country to help develop synergies between growth in the state and the best practices in related fields in Britain.

The British deputy high commission in Calcutta has sent a letter in this regard to Mishra. After taking permission from chief minister Nitish Kumar, Mishra conveyed his willingness to the British high commission.

“I am excited about the visit because my education has helped me a lot in carrying out department work as a minister. Now, I would get a chance to share details about the steps the Bihar government has taken to deliver hassle-free benefits of welfare schemes to the people. At the same time I can learn the best practices used in Britain,” Mishra told The Telegraph today.

Sharing details about the points he has planned to highlight during his UK visit, Mishra said: “Introduction of Right to Public Service Act that allows people to avail certain government services in stipulated time, the biometric cards for MNREGA beneficiaries for weeding out corruption, organising special camps to deliver the benefits of housing scheme meant for poor to eliminate middlemen are some of the points I would like to share with those I interact during my visit.”

The minister, however, has not charted out the details of the presentation that he plans to make during his tour.

“I will do these things once the ministry of external affairs, ministry of home and the Prime Minister’s office clear my tour to the UK,” Mishra said.

“The changing face of Bihar” with a focused approach on good governance and all round development have been talking point internationally, reads the invite.
