Siwan murder probe
• New Delhi (PTI): The CBI on Monday told the Supreme Court its probe into journalist Rajdeo Ranjan's murder, in which Siwan don Mohammad Shahabuddin is a prime accused, is at an "advanced stage" and they were likely to file a chargesheet within two weeks.
The CBI counsel also requested the court to defer hearing in the matter for two weeks. The court listed the matter for hearing on September 18.
Flood appeal
• Patna: The BJP has cancelled all its party programmes in the flood-hit district of the state. Party president Nityanand Rai said that the party has decided to send its office bearers to monitor the ongoing relief and rescue operations in the affected districts. Party treasurer Dilip Jaiswal has been directed to supervise the works in Kishanganj district.
Sushil jibe
• Patna: Deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi on Monday claimed that the Congress got trapped in conspiracies by foreign rulers and accepted the idea of division of the country at the time of Independence. He was speaking at a function organised by Maa Janki Mithila Punarjagran Samiti. Modi said the possibility of a large federation of India, Pakistan and Bangladesh could not be ruled out, as there were several such examples in history.
