Gyanu demand
Patna: BJP MLA Gyanendra Gyanu has demanded that Union minister Upendra Kushwaha be sacked for criticising Prime Minister Modi's participation in road shows in Varanasi. Gyanu said: "Varanasi is represented by the Prime Minister. If he cannot hold a road show there where else would he hold the show?"
Gang rape
Patna: A Dalit woman was allegedly gang raped by two men - Parvez Asaraf and Tabrez Asaraf - at a village under the jurisdiction of Sikarpur police station in West Champaran district on Tuesday night. The station house officer of Sikarpur police station Vinod Singh said the accused are absconding, and that the woman has been sent to the hospital for medical examination.
Liquor raid
Patna: Excise department officials seized over 400 cartons of Indian-made foreign liquor during a raid at Sakra in Muzaffarpur on Wednesday. Muzaffarpur excise superintendent Amit Kumar said the consignment from Haryana was stored in a riverine area of Budhi Gandak ahead of Holi. No one has been arrested.
Arrest
Patna: Economic offences unit (EOU) sleuths arrested three persons - Dipten Banerjee, Sambit Banerjee and Shriya Banerjee - from Calcutta on Wednesday for duping several investors. The trio was associated with Pritigya Housing Finance and Construction Company Limited, a non-banking finance company, which collected money from people across the state. The EOU has submitted a proposal to the enforcement directorate to confiscate their property under the provision of the Money Laundering Act, 2002.

Patna: Women employees of Bank of India were felicitated on Wednesday on the occasion of International Women's Day. The employees also took a pledge to face all challenges and laid stress on women's empowerment.

Patna: The Rashtriya Mahila Brigade celebrated International Women's Day, and thanked chief minister Nitish Kumar for clamping prohibition on the state. They said the law had brought happiness to families.

Food fest
Patna: A food festival and cultural programme was organised on Wednesday at Institute of Hotel Management, Hajipur. The theme of the food fest was Bharat Ek Khoj, and diverse cuisines from different parts of country were served.
Workshop
Patna: Canara bank regional staff training college, Patna, celebrated International Women's Day by organising a one-day workshop for women employees of the bank. The programme was inaugurated by G.K. Mahapatra, the bank's deputy general manager.
Child care
Patna: Sewa Bihar (union) with the Centre of Gender Studies and Association for Study and Action celebrated International Women's Day at Gandhi Sangrahalaya. The women workers expressed their views about work and home, and demanded child care centres to keep their children safe while they are at work.
