Prison suicide

Patna: An undertrial, Jitendra Kumar, lodged in Beur Central Jail for murder for dowry was found hanging from Yamuna's ward's gate on Saturday. He was taken to Patna medical college and hospital, but died while receiving treatment.

AAP office

Patna: The Aam Aadmi Party on Saturday announced that it will vacate the flat which houses the party's state office by Monday, following an order by the enforcement directorate to vacate the flat.

Scam state

Patna: BJP MP C.P. Thakur, on Saturday, said that Bihar's education system has collapsed as evident from the numerous scams unearthed recently. He added that the state's image has taken a hit as a result.

Maoist held

Patna: A self-proclaimed Maoist leader, Abhimanyu, was arrested from Muzaffarpur on Saturday. Police said Abhimanyu, secretary of the outfit's special area committee, was involved in over a dozen Maoist incidents in different districts of north Bihar.

Criminals held

Darbhanga: Police arrested five criminals, allegedly involved in robberies on National Highway 77 under the jurisdiction of Simri police station in Darbhanga district. Additional superintendent of police Dilnawaz Ahmad said a country-made pistol, two live cartridges, several knives and a sport utility vehicle were seized from them.

Liquor haul

Patna: West Champaran police arrested two alleged bootleggers and seized seven cartons of Indian-made foreign liquor from their car on Saturday. The alcohol smugglers were identified as Akhilesh Yadav and Banty Kumar. An accomplice of theirs, Saddam Hussain, managed to escape.
