Smart plan

Patna: The Patna Municipal Corporation will take help from private firms to make it to the Centre's smart city mission. PMC commissioner Abhishek Singh said ICLEI Local Governments for Sustainability "has shown interest in developing Patna into a smart city on the model of Guiyang and Luoyang cities in China." A meeting with divisional commissioner Anand Kishor will be held on January 16 in this regard.

School timing

Patna: District magistrate Sanjay Kumar Agarwal on Saturday issued directions to keep all academic activities up to Class V closed on January 16 and 17. He added that the direction was for the safety of children in face of a cold wave. Other classes may begin at 9am, he added.

Siwan: Intensive search operations were carried out at Siwan jail for three hours on Saturday. The operations have been conducted regularly over the past week after a photograph of Md. Shahabuddin, lodged at the jail, went viral.

Motihari: Students of Motihari Polytechnic College suffered injuries after a scuffle broke out near Motihari court roundabout on Saturday as they blocked the road to demonstrate against a resident who had allegedly assaulted them on the college premises.
